2 men detained in Kolkata for operating illegal telecom business

The Kolkata STF detained two men on Wednesday for allegedly running an illegal telecommunications business in West Bengal’s Tiljala Shibtala area. According to the Kolkata STF, these individuals have been identified as Sorowar Hussain and Habib Mondal, and police have seized a number of sim boxes, sim cards, and other gadgets from their possession.

“After receiving information about some people running an illegal telecommunications business in the Tiljala Shibtala area, a man named Sorowar Hussain was detained in Kolkata. From his possession, we seized four sim boxes, 256 sim cards, one laptop, and three routers “The Kolkata STF also reported the seizure of another arrested man’s laptop, simbox, pendrive, and up to 64 sim cards.

An official statement revealed that the recovery was made during a raid at Tiljala Masjid Bari Lane in Kolkata by a joint team of STF, Kolkata Police, and Karaya Police Station, with the assistance of personnel from the Department of Telecommunication (DOT).

The police have charged these individuals with violating sections 120 B, 419, 420, 465, 468, and 471 of the Indian Penal Code, as well as sections 4, 20, and 25 of the Indian Telegraph Act, 1885.
An investigation into the case is currently ongoing.
