8 suspected militants arrested in Uttar Pradesh, Jamaat link found

Uttar Pradesh’s Anti-Terrorism Squad or ATS arrested 8 suspected terrorists on Monday. All of them are associated with ‘Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh’ or JMB, ATS said. Uttar Pradesh Police said that five of the arrested are residents of Uttar Pradesh. Besides, there are residents of Jharkhand, Haridwar and even Bangladesh. Jihadi books, pen drives containing terrorist documents, mobile phones and other incriminating materials were seized from them. Uttar Pradesh ATS said that they had information for the past few days that Al Qaeda Indian Sub Continent or Al Qaeda Bar e Sagir and their affiliate Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, are trying to fulfill the objective of ‘Gajwa e Hind’ in India. After that eight people were arrested based on specific information. The arrested are Lukman, Qari Mukhtar, Kamil and Mohammad Alim, residents of Saharanpur, and Shahzad of Shamli. Besides, Nawazish Ansari of Jharkhand, Mudasir of Haridwar and Bangladesh resident Ali Noor alias Jahangir Mandal alias Inamul Haque were arrested. Earlier in early August, the Uttar Pradesh ATS arrested a suspect named Saifullah for alleged links to Jaish-e-Mohammed. Saifullah was arrested from Kanpur on the basis of information given by another terrorist arrested earlier from Saharanpur. It was known that he was also known as Habib-ul-Islam. He has created multiple virtual IDs.
