About 3.5 million volunteers from the ruling Trinamool parliament will reach out to about 10 million people in the 60 days starting January 11 as part of the Didir Suraksha Kavach (Didi’s Shield) initiative.
Opposition parties have criticized the TMC’s new outreach program, claiming the ruling party is trying to mislead people ahead of the Panchayat poll. The state government’s Duare Sarkar (gateway government) campaign continues. Like Duare Sarkar, the aim of the new campaign is to reach out to people through party programs and to discourage people from major welfare programs. The TMC’s outreach program will run ahead of this year’s Panchayat elections.
