John Barla after Nishith Pramanik.
An arrest warrant has been issued against another central state minister. The Tufanganj Sub-Divisional Court has issued an arrest warrant against Union Minister of State for Minority Affairs John Barla in a contempt of court case. John Barla has been accused of violating election rules. The then BJP candidate for the Alipurduar Lok Sabha constituency John Barla and his party workers-supporters staged a rally on bikes and cars at the BDO office premises even though the election rules were in force for the April 4, 2019 Lok Sabha polls. The program had no permission from the police administration. A written complaint was lodged at Buksirhat Police Station by the Election Commission as he marched without permission. A total of four people, including John Barla, were named in that case. The other three got bail earlier. Last November 15 i.e. Tuesday, the Union Minister of State was summoned to appear in court. But even then, as his lawyer or John Barla did not appear, the Tufanganj Sub-Divisional Sessions Court issued an arrest warrant against him. A few days ago, an arrest warrant was issued against Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Nisith Pramanik in a gold shop theft case.
