At a Kerala airport, 3.4 kilogrammes of gold were found.

Kerala’s Kozhikode, October 15 (PTI) According to officials with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) in this city on Saturday, two travellers who landed at the Calicut International Airport had 3.4 kilogrammes of gold in all, valued at Rs 1.7 crore.
The yellow metal was discovered as paste, according to the officials. They said that the travellers had arrived on Friday from Doha.
The passengers, who were both Kasargod natives, were detained after it was discovered that the gold was hidden within their bodies.
“The DRI had received a tip-off that these passengers were carriers and would attempt to smuggle gold through the airport. The officers, acting on the information, mounted surveillance at the airport and nabbed both the carriers,” a DRI statement said.
On October 11, a similar gold-smuggling attempt was made and 3.6 kg of gold worth Rs 1.8 crore was seized, the statement said. PTI LGK NVG NVG
