India’s Cricket Control Board (BCCI) is set to hold a review meeting after Rohit Sharma’s Indian team suffered a streak of defeat to Bangladesh in the ODI series.

BCCI officials will meet coach Rahul Dravid, NCA boss VVS Laxman, Rohit and former skipper Virat Kohli once the team returns from the Bangladesh tour.BCCI was due to hold a review meeting after India lost to England in the T20 World Cup semi-finals, but some of the BCCI officials were busy. But his second loss to seventh-ranked Bangladesh in Mirpur has alarmed BCCI officials as the Over-50s World Championships in India took him less than a year.

India have not won a major ICC title since winning the Champions Trophy in 2013. “I was not able to meet the Indian team before going to Bangladesh because some of the officials were busy, but I will make a promise when the Bangladesh team returns. I didn’t think so,” said a senior BCCI official. With Hardik Pandya likely to take over as his T20 captain, it remains to be seen how much longer rope BCCI will give Rohit as his ODI captain.

Rohit is 35 years old and BCCI may want to keep him at home as captain for next year’s 50-over World Cup. However, BCCI officials said the future roadmap to the captain would be clearer if a review meeting was held. During his T20 World Cup in Australia, the Indian team looked unprepared for T20 despite having taken his year to plan. Playing Down Under, the team suffered from several weaknesses, including walker openings, lack of effective finishers, no fast pace in the bowling lineup, and no wrist spinners. It was often the big hits of his No.1 hitter Suryakumar Yadav in the T20 format that saved India’s blush.BCCI has also yet to appoint a new senior selection committee after Chetan Sharma, Sunil Joshi, Debashish Mohanty and Harbinder decided not to renew the terms of his Singh.
