CV Ananda Bose Reaches Kolkata Ahead Of Taking Oath As West Bengal Governor

CV Ananda Bose will be sworn in as West Bengal’s new governor on Wednesday, officials said. Bose, who was appointed as the new governor on November 17, arrived in Kolkata on Tuesday morning. He was greeted at the airport by his Firhad Hakim, Mayor of Kolkata, Shashi Panja, Minister of Industry, HK Dwivedi, Chief Secretary, and Vineet Goyal, Chief of Police, Kolkata. He received an honor guard at the airport before being escorted by Raj Bhavan.

The post of governor in West Bengal was vacant after former governor Jagdeep Dunkar was elected vice-president of India on 11 August. Later Manipur, La. Ganesan was given interim responsibility for West Bengal.“The President of India is pleased to announce Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose as the Regular Governor of West Bengal,” read an official statement released by Rashtrapati Bhawan on Thursday.

Other officials, including Prime Minister Mamata Banerjee, parliamentary speaker Biman Banjopadhyay, and opposition leader Suvendu Adhikari, will participate in the program, according to senior government officials.The Governor is sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.Bose, who retired from his IAS staff in 1977 from Kerala state officials, succeeds Raganesan as governor.He retired in 2011 after serving as the curator of the National Museum in Kolkata.
