The West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation has decided to bring back the nostalgic double-decker bus this year to give a different dimension to the public’s visit during Durga Puja.

For just a minimal fare of Rs. 50 , one can see the famous places of Kolkata in a luxurious double-decker bus. The service will be available from September 27. On that day, Tourism Minister Babul Supriya will launch two double-decker buses. The buses will ply on the roads of Kolkata from 11 am to 6 pm and several trips will be carried out. The journey will start from Cathedral Road near Rabindra Sadan, passing through Victoria Memorial, Princep Ghat, Deckers Lane, CR Avenue, and finally reaching the last stop, Jorasanko Thakurbari gate.
This service will be closed on Mondays only. Like the deck of a ship, it will have an open space surrounded by railings. The blue and white double-decker bus is made in a slightly different way compared to earlier double-decker buses. The open roof will have 12 seats. There will be umbrellas to avoid the sun and rain, as is the case with ocean cruises. The bus will have 14 seats in the enclosure. Standing on this bus is absolutely prohibited.
