DY Chandrachud took oath as the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court

Dhananjay Y Chandrachud sworn in as the country ‘s 50th Chief Justice.He succeeded the outgoing Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Uday Umesh Lalit. President Draupadi Murmu administered the oath to him at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Chandrachud will hold the post of Chief Justice of the Supreme Court till November 10, 2024. This is the case, after the retirement of Chief Justice NV Ramana, Justice Lalit took oath as the Chief Justice of the country on August 27. As per rules, the Chief Justice of the country recommends the name of the next Chief Justice before retirement. According to that custom, Chief Justice Lalit handed over the letter to the Center in a meeting with all the judges of the Supreme Court on October 11. He was the Chief Justice for 74 days. Justice Chandrachud was the Additional Solicitor General of the country in 1998. He became the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court in 2013. He was appointed as a Supreme Court judge in 2016. Justice Chandrachud’s father YV Chandrachud was also the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. From February 1978 to July 1985, he held the post of Chief Justice for about 7 and a half years.
