Footage Of BBC Searches: Argument Between BBC Employees And IT Official

There has been a widely-circulated video on social media showing an argument between a tax department official and BBC employees during an Income Tax action against the BBC in India. The video appears to have been filmed at the Delhi office and shows the IT officer demanding access while the employees ask to see a warrant.
The official is seen getting angry and demanding that phones be put away, while a woman’s voice can be heard asking him to use a better tone. The BBC’s offices in Delhi and Mumbai were searched by Income Tax Department officers and account books were checked, and mobile phones of some employees were seized. The action came shortly after the broadcaster aired a documentary on the 2002 Gujarat riots and India, and the tax officials said they are looking into documents related to the company’s business operations and its Indian arm.
