Former Pakisan Prime Minister and Chief of Pakistan Tehrik-E-Insaf party Imran Khan was attacked during his rally near Allahwala Chowk area at Gujranwala. The unidentified gunman opened fire on a protest march in Pakistan today, injuring Imran Khan, a former prime minister of Pakistan. In Pakistan’s Punjab province, shots were fired at the container-mounted vehicle hauling Imran Khan. The local media reports claimed that Mr. Khan is safe.

Gunshots were heard close to Imran Khan’s welcoming camp at Allah Wala Chowk in Gujranwala, according to local broadcaster Geo News. There were reportedly a number of injuries.
The incident, approximately 200 kilometres from Islamabad, brought terrible echoes of how Benazir Bhutto, a former prime minister, was fatally shot during a rally in 2007.
The gunshots were reportedly fired close to the convoy carrying Khan and his injured leg.While no loss of lives has been reported so far, Imran Khan’s manager reportedly got grave injuries in the attack.PTI leader Imran Ismail has said that the party chief has been shot in the leg “three to four” times.Speaking to Bol TV, he said that he was next to Imran when the attack occurred, adding that the attacker was directly in front of the container. He also said that an AK—47 was used to attack Imran Khan.
Imran Khan’s spokesperson Azhar Mashwani later said that an accused, who reportedly fired a shot at the former prime minister, has been arrested and will be probed.
