IEM In Association With IEMLabs & Cyber Security Centre Of Excellence Hosts,Cyber Awareness & Hygiene Seminar For Students

On 7th November 2022, Institute of Engineering and Management (IEM) in collaboration with IEMLabs and supported by Cyber Security Centre of Excellence, West Bengal organised a seminar at IEM, Kolkata, on Cyber Awareness and Hygiene for students to commemorate Cyber Security Awareness Month.
Prof. Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti, Director, IEM Kolkata, Shri Sanjay Kumar Das, Joint Secretary, Department of Information Technology & Electronics, Government West Bengal, Shri Bidit Mondal, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Police Directorate, West Bengal Police, Shri Nirupam Chaudhuri, Regional Director – East, NASSCOM, and Mr. Hrithik Lall, Chief Technical Officer, IEMLabs, addressed the seminar.
“Cybercrime has increased manifold with the amplified use of technology and subsequent expansion of cyber space in various ways. To counter this menace and have an exchange of ideas, we are extremely honoured to collaborate with Cyber Security Centre of Excellence, West Bengal Police & NASSCOM in organising this seminar. The main motto of this seminar is to raise awareness about cyber-crime and cyber hygiene among students” said Dr. Satyajit Chakrabarti, Director, IEM Kolkata.

Owing to the surge in cyber-crimes, there is an immediate need to sort this out by adopting a strategy of cyber hygiene by everyone, and particularly students, which includes prevention by inculcating the habit of taking basic care of ICT devices at regular intervals. These are the aspects we tried to address in this seminar”, said Mr. Hrithik Lall, Chief Technical Officer, IEMLabs. The seminar was focused on building an awareness among the students on the safety and security to ensure not being cyber bullied. Students must not take any loans from fraudulent apps which are not registered with RBI. The adverse effect of using unsecure websites for downloading games or cracked software. Promotional mails, texts or links sent by unknown people must not be clicked. The seminar witnessed participation of 350+ students. Shri Babul Supriyo, Hon’ble Minister- In-Charge, Department of Information Technology and Electronics, Govt. of West Bengal felicitated meritorious students of the Institute of Engineering and Management for their exemplary work in the field of Cyber Security.
Shri Sanjay Kumar Das, Joint Secretary, Department of Information Technology and Electronics,Govt. of West Bengal hosted a Quiz Contest among the students on Cyber Awareness, the winners were awarded with Goodies.
