Illegal Teak Log Seizure
On Saturday, foresters in the Belakoba forest range of Baikunthapur forest division seized illegal teak logs worth around Rs 40 lakh from a truck on NH 27 near Karatowa of Jalpaiguri. The driver was arrested and during initial questioning, he stated that the logs were loaded in Assam and were headed to Bihar. The timber had been concealed under sacks of rice.
