According to sources on Monday, there were minor casualties “to a few personnel” from both sides of the conflict between Indian and Chinese troops in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh on Friday. Both sides then quickly withdrew from the area.

Although neither side has reported any fatalities, at least six Indian soldiers have been hurt.According to sources, the Indian troops in the Tawang area of the face-off responded appropriately to the Chinese troops, and the number of Chinese soldiers injured is higher than that of Indian soldiers.Although the Chinese had approximately 300 soldiers with them, they hadn’t anticipated that the Indian side would also be well-prepared, they said.

“On 9th Dec 2022, PLA troops contacted the LAC in Tawang Sector of Arunachal Pradesh which was contested by Indian troops in a firm and resolute manner. This face-off led to minor injuries to a few personnel from both sides. Both sides immediately disengaged from the area,” sources confirmed to news agency ANI.

At Yangtse, 35 kilometres to the northeast of Tawang, one of the major clashes in this region occurred in October 2021. The Indian side had prevented the Chinese from climbing to the summit of the 17,000-foot peak. The region is currently covered in snow and will be till March. This is the first physical confrontation between the two factions since the clash in August 2020 close to Rinchen La in eastern Ladakh.
