A new poll shows that 58% of Indians are restricting their purchases of Chinese goods since 2020 after tensions between the two countries escalated. About half of them opted for Indian-made products instead.

India and China have been at odds since early 2020 when the two countries’ forces clashed in the Ladakh region, with several clashes occurring in the months that followed. The latest clashes between the Indian army and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army took place in the border region of Arunachal Pradesh, with soldiers from both sides reportedly injured in the brawl. Given these circumstances, Indian customers seem to have skipped the cheaper products from neighboring countries and switched to products of Indian origin.
