Mehbooba Mufti, the president of the People’s Democratic Party and a former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, joined Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra on Saturday in the Anantnag district. She was accompanied by her daughter Iltija Mufti, and the yatra was joined by Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra in the Pulwama district.
The authorities have ensured strict security measures are in place along the route of the yatra and the ADGP of Kashmir reported that no security lapses occurred and many people joined the walkathon. The yatra is set to end at the Pantha Chowk on the outskirts of Srinagar city on Saturday and will resume from there on Sunday morning.
“We’re giving three-tier protection, all security arrangements have been done. The Bharat Jodo Yatra is going on smoothly. Traffic has also been diverted, there won’t be any problem. No security lapses happened yesterday (Friday) and many people joined the walkathon,” said Kashmir ADGP Vijay Kumar
