NIP to bring relief for the visually impaired




National Institute of Professionals NGO organised the launch of a Braille Display Stand for the Blind and announced the Differently Abled & Senior Citizen Friendly Covid Safe Durgotsab Award 2022.
The National Institute of Professionals NGO is a centre for the blind and other people with disabilities. On December 3, 2012, “STATE AWARD” was given to NIP. Additionally, it has been holding blind T-20 cricket tournaments and the All Bengal Chess Competition.
An Education & Cultural Centre for the Blind & other Differently Abled in collaboration with Forum for Durgotsab, Saini International School, Mamta Sumit Binani Foundation, The Rotary Club of Calcutta Old City had organised awards for Puja committees who are making an effort to make their Pandals friendly for Senior Citizens and the Disabled, where 250 Durga Puja Committees would be participating for the same, in collaboration with Forum for Durgotsab, Saini International School, Mamta Sumit Binani Foundation and others. Additionally, they have established Braille Display Stands for the Blind for the Hazra Park Durgotsab Committee, S B Park, and Young Boys Club puja pandals (Near Chitpur Crossing).
Many notable people attended the event, including: Sri. Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, Minister of Agriculture, Government of West Bengal; Sri. Sayan Deb Chatterjee, Joint Secretary of Hazra Park Durgotsab Committee; CS (Dr.) Adv. Mamta Binani, Chief Patron of NIP NGO & President of MSME Development Forum WB; Sri. Tapan Pattanayak, CEO of Saini Group.
“Disability is not an attribute of an individual, but rather a complex collection of conditions created by the social environment,” CS (Dr.) Adv. Mamta Binani, Chief Patron of NIP NGO & President of MSME Development Forum WB, said to the media.
People with special needs will be more likely to visit the pandal and participate in the festive fervour if they do not have to wait in long lines to enter the pandal and have direct access to the Puja premises. With a little consideration, people of various abilities and disabilities can celebrate the festival with the same sense of belonging and joy.
Sri. Sayan Deb Chatterjee, Joint Secretary of the Hazra Park Durgotsab Committee, spoke at the event and said, “At the beginning of this Puja season, when everyone desires to go with the impeccable mood of celebrations, we have decided to devote ourselves to support an unique fight for humanity, right, & equality to enthral our social commitment.”
The Braille watch, Braille calculator, Braille thermometer, etc. have all been created for daily use with the intention of giving the blind independence and now it’s time for joyous festivities with the Braille Display Stand for the Blind.
Durga Puja is the biggest festival in West Bengal, according to Sri Tapan Pattanayak, CEO of the Saini Group, who spoke during the event. West Bengal celebrates the holiday with a lot of fanfare. However, people often overlook the elderly and people with disabilities who make up another segment of society.
