No improvement in petrol prices since May

Due to Russia’s military operations in Ukraine, the price of crude oil in the international market started to rise from March-April this year. At one time the price of oil reached 116 dollars per barrel. At that time, the state-owned oil companies of the country increased the price of petrol and diesel step by step. Due to this, the price of petrol is more than 100 rupees per liter. Diesel is also hovering around 100 rupees. However, at the end of September, it appears that the price of crude oil in the international market has dropped to 80 dollars per barrel. However, the state-owned oil companies are not reducing the fuel prices in this country in line with the lower prices.

The price of crude oil in the international market in April this year was around $103 per barrel. $109.51 in May, $116.01 in June. However, the price dropped to $105.49 in July, $97.40 in August and $92.87 in early September. As the US Federal Reserve raised interest rates again on Friday, the cost of importing oil in this country has now dropped to an average of $80 per barrel.

On the other hand, it appears that the price of petrol in Kolkata on April 30 was 115 taka 12 paise per liter. And on September 24, petrol price is 106 taka 01 paise per litre. That is, between April and September, the price of petrol has decreased by only Rs 9.11 per liter. On April 30, the price of diesel in Kolkata was 99 taka 83 paisa per litre. On September 23, it is seen that the price of diesel has decreased to Rs. 92.74 per liter. That is, between April and September, the price of diesel has decreased by only Rs. 7.11 per liter. It is also noteworthy that since May till now the price of petrol or diesel has not been reduced at all.
