PM Modi to hold High Level meeting on Omicron sub-variant BF.7

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is holding a review meeting today after four cases of Omicron subvariant BF.7 were detected in India. BF.7 is said to be behind the rapidly rising number of cases in China. Health Minister Mansuf Mandaviya held a meeting on Wednesday to review the Covid situation in India.

Random checks will be conducted at airports for international passengers arriving from China and other countries, officials said. Meanwhile, the government has ordered all states to have their samples genome-sequenced. The center stressed that the pandemic is not over and urged authorities to be well prepared for increased challenge and surveillance.
