Protestors set to suspend sit-in for a day in the view of Durga Puja carnival.

Following a request from Kolkata Police The candidates have been organising a sit-in in the Esplanade area for at least 570 days, alleging irregularities in the recruitment process and demanding jobs. Protesting SSC, TET , Group C and Group D have decided not to hold their demonstration on Saturday.

As the protest side falls near the Red Road area the Maidan Police sent the notice to protestors and requested not to hold the sitting today for security reasons around the carnival venue.The protesters decided to call off their agitation for a day but insisted that they would return to the protest site on October 9. The development, however, triggered sharp attacks by the Opposition towards the State’s ruling party. Incidentally, on Friday, the movement of ninth to twelfth job aspirants over SSC ‘corruption’ entered 572 days. During Durga Puja, job seekers spend their time on the streets.
