Remembering Pele: the day Mohunbagan played against the legend
On a rainy afternoon 45 years ago, history was made at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. On that day, Pele’s New York Cosmos Club faced Mohun Bagan for the first time in this subcontinent.
To commemorate that historic event in their own unique way, the existing players of the historic match held a reunion on September 24, 2022, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Kolkata Press Club.
The chief guest was MP Prasun Banerjee, one of the players who faced Pele in the match. He spoke highly of the football legend at the event, which was a huge success, with extensive media coverage celebrating the historic occasion.
