Usha Uthup and the core team of Stagecraft Foundation involving Mr. Gautam Jain, Mr. Shiladitya Chaudhury and Mr. Dibyendu Lahiri to celebrate the completion of Science City’s 25th Year with a flurry of uniquely planned events.
Stagecraft Foundation was instituted to acknowledge the contributions of the Behind-the-Scene-Stars of entertainment. The foundation propagates an objective to encourage – support the excellence of the craftsmen working behind the live stage & institute a platform to recognize their contribution to the live experiential ecosystem. Years after years, the Stagecraft award ceremony felicitated and recognized the real craftsmen behind the curtains in multiple categories.
After a hiatus of four years, Stagecraft is all set to make a grand comeback this year. To commemorate the journey of 25 years of Science City where ample numbers of unsung heroes are working day & night to give the audience and the visitors a live immersive experience of science and opportunity galore to earn their bread – butter through using the live stage arena to give high voltage live experience through art – music and culture; Stagecraft Foundation ties the knot with National Council of Museum, Government of India represented by Science City for three big ticket events each year. The events are Annual Stagecraft Awards, Annual Stagecraft Conclave, two-day media conclave & Annual Stagecraft Musical Series, every year to pay tribute to a musical genius. To start with, the Foundation plans to celebrate 50 years of Padmashree Usha Uthup on November 08, 2023, with setup days.
“Stagecraft Foundation acts as a knowledge platform for the craftsmen working behind the stage. Stage Production is incomplete without the team of craftsmen, who never faces the limelight but always provides the best to their capacity staying behind the curtains. Thus, Stagecraft Foundation tries to bring these unsung heroes of the Show Business to the arc light & transform this mission into a “KHUSHIYON KA RANGMANCH” for them. We are elated to have our valued association with National Council of Museum, Government of India represented by Science City for arranging series of events in coming years. Science city has positioned itself as a pride of Kolkata and transformed the concept of science centers into an immersive experience, which is very much relevant for the city of joy and its citizens. I am hopeful this association will help us nurturing the talents who never take the front seat but is an integral part for a smoother execution of any events”, said Smt. Usha Uthup, Founder Trustee & Chairperson, Stagecraft Foundation.
The foundation will utilize its own bandwidth and resource to organize the above projects in association with Science City, Kolkata. This will be a unique collaboration for the first time in the country and a best way to say THANK YOU to the ecosystem along with the craftsmen working behind the stage.

About Stagecraft Foundation
Eminent personalities from the city’s entertainment fraternity, under the aegis of Padmashree Usha Uthup, joined hands to form StageCraft Foundation, a philanthropic trust aimed to acknowledge the contributions of the Behind-the-Scene-Heroes of the entertainment world. There have been numerous award ceremonies where the actor/performer connected either with film, television, music and theatre are always in the limelight and well recognized. But nobody thought about the people who made them feel good, look good who takes care of the light and sound requirements or the event managers who styles an event so that all mileages as desired by a client are fulfilled. The primary objective of StageCraft Foundation is to acknowledge and honour these stalwarts and also organize workshops and training facilities for these people. The Anthem song of StageCraft Foundation has been composed by Mr. Raja Narayan Deb, written by Srijato and the voice over has been done by Mr. Sabyasachi Chakraborty
