Terrorists killed in Jammu

On Wednesday morning, four terrorists were killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in Sidhra near Jammu. A large cache of weapons, including seven AK-47 rifles and one M4 rifle, were recovered from their possession. The gunfight was triggered when a truck, headed to Kashmir on the Jammu-Srinagar highway, was stopped for a security check at a checkpoint.

The driver fled the scene when the Jammu and Kashmir police Quick Reaction Team stopped the truck at the checkpoint. The truck was loaded with fodder and had a cavity inside for the terrorists to hide. It is not yet known what group the terrorists were affiliated with, but they were heavily armed and used heavy ammunition against the security forces. The firefight took place hours before the Union home minister held a review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, during which he asked officials to take all necessary measures to “dismantle the terror ecosystem.”
