Three held in Barrackpore, 100 kg explosives seized

In Barrackpore, three people were detained by a special task unit of the Bengal Police on suspicion of smuggling and selling explosives, and it was reported that 100 kg of explosives had been taken from them.50 kilos of potassium nitrate and 50 kilogrammes of arsenic sulphide are included in the 100 kilogrammes of raw materials for bombs, according to the police. Following a tip-off, the STF conducted a raid in the Keutia neighbourhood under the Basudebpur police station in Barrackpur on Thursday, claiming to have captured the trio carrying 100 kg of explosives. The suspects were identified by the police as Naresh Chowdhury of Kankinara, Umesh Kumar Rai of Bhatpara, and Shankar Pal of Jagadal, and they were charged with the appropriate offences under the IPC and the Explosive Substances Act.
A probe to find out where the explosives were procured from and being taken to was underway. The accused are being questioned to know about their accomplices,’ said a police officer.
