West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee, inaugurated Tala Bridge on Thursday and after that it was full of movement .

According to the Public Works department sources, “Only small vehicles will run on this bridge for a few days. After the analysis of the situation, the administration may give a green signal to the movement of big vehicles.” While inaugurating the bridge on Thursday, Mamata Banerjee said, “This is a gift before the Durga Puja to our people.”

It is reported that buses can be run through Tala Bridge from 29th and freight vehicles from 6th October. However, in the meantime, the remaining work of the bridge will be continued, according to the agency responsible for its construction.Commuters coming to North Kolkata from Baranagar or Sinthi Junction will no longer have to cross the Belgachia Bridge. The opening of the bridge before Durga Puja is expected to reduce traffic congestion in the city.

Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Mayor, Firhad Hakim, said, “This new bridge was built using the latest technology, it has become much stronger than before.”The bridge received its safety certificate from Eastern Railway after IIT-Kharagpur vetted the structure’s load-testing report.
