What is it about NRI portal Announced by West Bengal Government
The West Bengal government has launched a web portal called ‘Apon Bangla’ that aims to connect with non-resident Indians, persons of Indian origin, and overseas citizens of India who are originally from West Bengal.
This initiative is aimed at providing a platform to address their grievances, accept feedback and suggestions, and offer access to government services. The portal will also offer a newsletter providing information about the state, facilitate donations to the ‘NRI Contribution Fund’, and offer guidance towards investing in the state.
The platform intends to be a one-stop communication medium for enabling all non-resident Indians to become a seamless extension of the community of West Bengal and participate in the development of the state.
The portal also aims to prepare a database of Indians from Bengal who are staying abroad, which would help the state government interact with registered members and render assistance, in case they face any difficulties abroad.
